"The ancient Chinese perceived human beings as a microcosm of the universe that surrounded them. They imagined themselves as part of one unbroken wholeness, called Tao, a singular relational continuum within and without. The Chinese concept of Qi as life's animating force and substance symbolizes life in all its forms. Chinese Medicine instructs us to perceive the way the world functions and re-create harmony within the context of the whole."

Acupuncture- How does it work?
Acupuncture can be used to treat acute and chronic problems as well as provide preventative medical treatment. By eliminating congestion and activating circulation of Qi, Acupuncture disrupts patterns of illness. Qi is the vital energy which flows through a system of channels called meridians and regulates the bodily functions. Qi essentially refers to all of the body's physiological and metabolic processes. The meridians are the transmission lines among the various parts of the body, making the organism a unified whole. When Qi and Blood stagnate, the processes of elimination and regeneration deteriorate, and this constitutes the underlying basis for many forms of illness. Acupuncture helps encourage homeostasis in the body by regulating and restoring a harmonious, energetic balance. Acupuncture has been clinically proven to:
• Regulate hormones
• Improve circulation
• Alleviate pain
• Strengthen immunity against disease
• Speed recovery time from injury and surgical procedures
• Promote relaxation and the body’s “rest and digest” functions (parasympathetic activity)
• Ease emotional tension

How do the Needles Feel?
Needles are inserted anywhere from a fraction of an inch to several inches in depth, depending on the thickness of flesh and muscle at a given location. Since the needles are extremely fine, minimal discomfort accompanies insertion. Sensations such as tingling, heaviness, soreness and pressure are not only common but desirable because this indicates that Qi stimulation has been obtained. Sensations may occur around the acupuncture point as well as along the corresponding channel.
How long will it Take?
Duration and frequency of treatment vary since each patient is as unique as their thumbprint. In some cases, only a few sessions are needed, while others may need the accumulated benefit of weeks or months. This will depend on the severity of ailments and to what extent it has been a chronic condition. Generally the longer a patient has endured a symptom or pattern of dysfunction, the longer the course of treatment. A session usually lasts about an hour to hour and a half and is scheduled as often as every other day or as little as once a month.
